Our Healthcare Insurance client is seeking a Principal Data Governance Specialist to join their team! 

Our client has more than 5,000 employees and is the number 1 health insurer in the state of North Carolina serving more than 3.89 million customers.

Position: Principal Data Governance Specialist
Location: Durham, NC 
Term: 6 months 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Primary point of responsibility, accountability and activity for the assessment, improvement and governance of quality and ongoing fitness-for-purpose of an organization's critical analytics products. Analytics stewards are not owners of the products or data but rather serve as trustees to ensure adequate analytics quality is maintained so that products can effectively support business value.

Engages with business leadership to establish target goals and identifies optimal approaches for resolving analytics issues to achieve targets. Works within and beyond area of control to implement improvement approaches. Identifies metrics and develops, audits, and analyzes statistics and trends to demonstrate compliance with requirements. Monitors, tracks, and reports on key metrics and utilization

Is this a fit? (Requirements): 

  • Understanding of data lineage, Python, R, cloud environments, and SAS
  • Familiarity with Dataiku, Alteryx, Teradata
  • Architecture (software & Infrastructure), data modeling, data science, analytics
  • Experience supporting regulatory analytics compliance across key areas such as: HIPAA, GDPR, PHI, SOX
  • Understanding of Healthcare Products and Services
  • Prior experience developing and implementing new technologies and infrastructure
  • Up to date with industry-leading analytics tools and best practices
  • Knowledge of AI, machine learning, bots, social media analytics preferred
  • Enterprise program management experience
  • Experience with Data Visualization Tools
  • Discovery tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Familiarity with technologies and platforms (such as Python, AWS, and Hadoop)
  • Must have a working understanding of compliance, audit, and risk.
  • Experience with multiple technologies and discernment of which to apply in different environments and use cases is necessary. Resource will drive the development, automation, and integration of new analytics tools to support end-to-end product management from data lineage and analytics to point of user consumption.
  • Architecture (both software & infrastructure) knowledge and experience is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets and analytical systems/databases.
  • Resource must be multi-disciplined with a logical/analytical mindset, a clear understanding of analytical reporting and a background in leveraging technologies to achieve superior results.
  • This role will require deep and complex analysis to discover underlying business drivers and how to leverage those insights to optimize and impact outcomes.

Hiring Preferences:

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field
  • 10+ years experience in Healthcare, Business, Computer Science, or related field
