Position: Corporate Policy and Process Manager
Location: Durham, North Carolina 
Term: 6+  months

Day-to-Day Responsibilities: The Policy and Process Manager is responsible for coordinating policy and standards processes in support of the Data Governance Office which is a subset of Data and Analytics Dept. .Policy and process management includes reviewing and ensuring the consistent format, development, and content of policies from all areas of the company, review and reconciliation of conflicting or coordinating policies, establishing consistent naming conventions; removing outdated policy; and managing approval and timely review and re-approval of all policies.

The Policy and Process Manager will interact with all key leaders and departments company-wide, to ensure policy and process is complete, coordinated, non-duplicative, consistently named, reviewed and approved timely, reflects our actual practice, and is consistent with all clinical, regulatory, and legal requirements, guidelines, laws, statutes, and regulations.

You must be an effective communicator, educator, and leader who will ensure other leaders are conversant in the use of the organizations policy management software and tools.

Key responsibilities include:
•    Direct and coordinate activities concerned with implementation and carrying out policy and standards related objectives of the Data Governance Office
•    Advises and consults with key business units on matters related to privacy, data sharing internally and externally, data protection, and Data governance corporate policy
•    Respond to internal inquiries and provide advice and direction to ensure operational and strategic business decisions are implemented in full compliance with all privacy regulations and corporate policy and DG standards.
•    Develop and implement effective communication and training strategies and initiatives related to data Governance policy and standards.
•    Develop and prepare metrics and formal reports, including administration and trend analysis, summarizing program results.
•    Ensure Data Governance policies and Standards are up to date, coordinated and address key privacy requirements, and make any revisions necessary.
•    Develop, Implement and maintain a defined internal control mechanism for Data Governance policies and standards.

Is this a good fit? (Requirements):

• Bachelors Degree and 5 years experience in health insurance, health care, compliance and/or regulatory affairs that provide the candidate with strong knowledge of health care regulations and products.
• If no degree, 7 years work experience as stated above.
• Direct experience with data governance, approving policy and standards
• Experience drafting/writing standards and policies.
• Direct project management experience with large, complex projects required.
• Direct experience in consultative/advisory role required as well as good facilitation skills 

Desired Skills 

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of pertinent laws, regulations related to privacy, corporate policy principles
• preferred (e.g. HIPAA, Code of Conduct
• Strong investigative, analytical, presentation, negotiation skills
• Strong people skills and the ability to be resourceful as well as make concise, independent and defensible decisions in often high-pressure situations
• Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)
• Proven track record in effective program/project management preferably in area of regulatory compliance
• Creativity - ability to think out of the box and to identify ongoing innovative program improvements in reaction to changing circumstances.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects within established time frames
