Job Title:Hardware Technician
 
Term: 1 Year Contract
Location:492 River Rd, Nutley, NJ 07110
 
 
Day-to-Day Responsibilities: 
  • Provide Data Center Operations Support. Perform ad hoc requests as directed by on-site management.
  • Prepare and coordinate and receive incoming shipments.
  • Compare packing lists with purchase details to ensure accurate make, model, and quantities are received.
  • Perform hardware installations - rack / stack.
  • Perform cable installations (routing, terminating) and testing.
  • Perform hardware cabling troubleshooting.
  • Support Service Manager processes (e.g. Service Request, Incident, Change) by creating, updating, and closing associated tickets.
  • Perform physical audits and ensure the Service Manager database is updated and accurate.
  • Collaborate and maintain business relationships in order to meet and exceed client expectations with respect to business as usual and project activities.
  • Thorough understanding of cabling best practices (EIA/TIA-568 standards).
  • Thorough understanding of IT hardware skills (HP, Cisco, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of network cabling diagnostics and testing practices.
  • Good understanding of LAN/WAN/Telephony concepts e.g. TCIP, switches, routers, vLANs
Is this a good fit? (Requirements): 
  • Qualified candidate will have an Associates Degree or equivalent (2-5+ years) experience as a Datacenter Technician.
  • Experience with network cabling, rack/stack, LAN, WAN and VLAN protocols.
  • Handle tape backup media and prepare for offsite storage if applicable. Install, configure computer hardware systems.
  • Help customers resolve complex hardware-based issues.
  • A+ PC Technician certification preferred.
  • Candidate must have ability to multi-task with complex technical issues and have customer-focused personality.
  • Perform remote hands support e.g. power cycles, physical equipment and cabling inspections, swap out failed components, testing of copper and fiber cables, handle storage media, and enter troubleshooting commands.
